Jewellery Care

MYA Crafts Shop Jewellery is handmade with love. Each jewellery is ethically handcrafted by our artisans using Premium Quality brass and Sterling Silver 925. All our jewellery are made from highest quality material and are lead and nickel free.

Our jewellery are suitable for daily wear and can be in contact with soap and water without any issues. Follow the tips below to keep your jewelry looking great and last a long time.

 Premium Quality Brass Jewellery Care

Brass is material that can last for a long time with care. Overtime, brass will get darker or dull as it oxidises due to humidity and give you a more antique look, which some may prefer. To shine it like new again, you may use a jewellery polishing cloth or a natural product like lemon. To use lemon, simply put lemon juice directly on the brass, wait for 5 to 10 minutes, rinse it with water and dry it with a cloth. Please avoid contact of lemon juice on gemstones. Do not clean your jewellery with lemon if it contains porous gemstones like lapis lazuli, turquoise, malachite and opal. Do remove your jewellery when doing manual work like gardening, household chores, exercise and avoid any chemical products. Wash your jewellery with a mild soap to remove any dirt and oil and dab dry before storing your jewellery in a ziplock or air tight container.

 Sterling Silver 925 Jewellery Care

Sterling silver is a precious metal and may require cleaning from time to time. The best way to maintain the beauty of your silver jewellery is by wearing it often. However, do remove your jewellery when doing manual work like gardening and household chores and avoid any chemical products. Wash your jewellery with a mild soap to remove any dirt and oil and dab dry before storing your jewellery in a ziplock or air tight container. Also, use a silver polishing cloth to clean and polish your jewellery.

 Natural Gemstones Care

Jewellery piece containing gemstones must be worn with extra care. Avoid dropping or knocking gemstone jewellery on hard surfaces as it may damage your  gemstones. Natural gemstones are sensitive to hot water, heat, and harsh chemicals including detergents, ammonia, and acids. Chemicals in cosmetics, oils, lotions, perfumes dust and body oils, can also discolour and destroy the beauty of your gemstones. You can eliminate most problems by simply wiping all your jewelry with a soft dampened cloth after wearing it. Always dry the gemstones and wipe off all traces of water from its surface before storing them in a ziplock or airtight container.
